Get outside, enjoy the weather and explore the city by taking part in the Bumrun, a charity run that raises awareness of colon cancer prevention. The best part? You can do it from home! You decide the route, and all you have to do is take photos during your run (or walk, because running is hard) with the poster that you’ll receive by email when you register.
For 10 years, Bumrun has committed to raising awareness of colon cancer. Canada has one of the highest rates of colon cancer in the world, and it’s the second most common cause of cancer deaths affecting 1 in 13 Canadians.
Every year Bumrun donates 100 per cent of the funds raised to support charities such as the Kensington Foundation, Colorectal Cancer Canada and Sick Children’s Hospital Foundation. This year, Bumrun partnered with Colorectal Cancer Resource & Action Network (CCRAN), a non-profit whose mission is to support, educate and advocate for colorectal cancer patients and their caregivers. Bumrun has just passed the $100,000 mark on donations to their charities.
“By signing up, you are helping to make this silent killer more visible, and bringing us closer to stopping the 95 per cent of colon cancer deaths that could be prevented,” says Dr. Ian Bookman, the founder of Bumrun.
Not only do you get to tone your booty by signing up, but you also get to raise awareness for a great cause.
Register and complete a 5K walk/run anywhere at any time before April 25 and participate in the live Bumrun Race Day virtual workout at 9 a.m. on April 25.
