Dr. Stephanie Liu, the author of the Life of Dr. Mom blog, teams with Georgia Miller, a schoolteacher, to tell a story that’s easy for the kids to digest, but also speaks to parents who often find themselves near the ends of their ropes.
Coco is a puppy who is acting out; the little pup isn’t listening to her mom and isn’t being a good playmate to others. Parents all deal with this — no matter how much we love our kids, there are those times when they push us to the edge; little acts of defiance that, together, dare us to blow our tops.
Does it work? I shouldn’t be the one to be the judge of that. Instead, I left the verdict up to my daughter, who gave it two thumbs up. In the end, the book has to engage kids, so the verdict of a child is far more important than what I think.
