Edmonton’s award-winning Firefly Theatre and Circus is returning to the stage on April 16, for the first time in over two years, presenting its newest vivacious variety show, VIVAREE. The show contains nine performances featuring acrobats, comedians, jugglers, dancers and pups (yes, they are well-trained performers).
VIVAREE is a family-friendly show with vivacious humour. The casts present both aerial and ground acts. Annie Dugan, co-founder of Firefly Theatre and Circus, describes the show as “a celebration of joy for everyone.”
“I just wanted everybody, the audience and the performers, to forget about the craziness happening in the world right now. During the 90 minutes in our theatre, we shall just sit back, smile and laugh,” says Dugan.
Returning audiences of Firefly Theatre will also discover some new talents among the familiar faces, including the three-year-old cookie-loving Australian Shepherd, Berri.
“During the pandemic, we put on seven performances for our friends in the backyard,” says Dugan, “We’re all really proud that we survived, and have now refined the backyard show, bringing it back to theatre for all our audience.”
VIVAREE is on stage April 16 at the Auditorium at Campus Saint Jean, 8406 Rue Marie-Anne Gaboury, 91 St. NW.
