I’ve eaten Capital Pizza for over 40 years. As it is said, “I’ve tried the rest and Capital Pizza is the best.” Delicious flavours, plenty of toppings and sauce, and you never have to ask for extra cheese. Whenever our family wants pizza, Capital Pizza is the only option, or else we are disappointed. None of that thin dry crust. No scraping sauce so it covers the whole slice. No rearranging of pepperoni or other toppings so you get some in every bite. No stretching the cheese over the slice. It comes so every piece is delicious and I don’t have to envy the person eating beside me. – Kathy Yewchuk

With its unique take on a pizza menu, Birch (veggie) and Bear (meats) has the best pizza in Edmonton, hands down. The crust is perfect every time, ingredients are fresh and delicious and the options are perfect. My favourite is the Local Mushroom, Goat Cheese and Leek. Even as I’m typing now I’m craving a slice of that earthy, garlicky pizza. – Andrew Smith

I didn’t think pineapple on pizza could surprise me anymore — until I met the Korean Hawaiian from Die Pie. This isn’t your average sweet-and-savoury combo. Imagine the tangy heat of gochujang aioli mingling with smoky ham seitan, juicy pops of fresh pineapple and the zip of house-made kimchi. Then there’s the warm cheddar, and a sprinkle of cilantro tying it all together like a spicy, tropical dream. I know it’s more on the bold side, but it’s got everything: sweet, savoury, spicy — and just the right amount of sour from the kimchi. One bite and you’re hooked. – Peter Verboom

The New York Pizza has a barbecue-marinara combo with french fries and eggs. Totally weird, but totally delicious. The crust is also kinda weird — think Sicilian style but cooked like a traditional takeout. You won’t find another pizza like it in the city. – Sarah Grass
