2. Celebrate Festival City – and a clean home!
There’s a reason Edmonton has become synonymous with world-class festivals. Throughout the year, people flock to over 50 annual events to soak in the culture, diversity and art in Edmonton.
Don’t miss the largest food and entertainment festival in Western Canada, Taste of Edmonton, for its triumphant return to Churchill Square. Later in July, dive into the art, music, dance and food of this year’s Edmonton Heritage Celebration with hundreds of different cultures represented in our city. And this fall, see what’s on tap at Edmonton’s Craft Beer Festival.
And when you’re partaking in one of the many virtual festivals from home instead, you can set up your favourite backyard chair under the shade of your perfectly pruned trees, courtesy of the knowledgeable and talented experts at Rümi.
3. Visual arts – that aren’t on a screen
Edmonton is a city of artists, creators and makers, and our arts scene is second to none. In addition to the multitude of colourful wall murals hidden throughout the city, there are over 200 pieces of artwork in the city’s public art collection. And if gallery art is more your thing, visit the much-anticipated Black Every Day exhibit at the Art Gallery of Alberta. And until September, immerse yourself in Edmonton’s rich Indigenous culture with Mother Tongues, hosted by contemporary arts centre, Latitude 53.
There’s art everywhere you look – even in places you’d least expect, like high efficiency water filtration and plumbing systems Rümi can install in your home. With the beautiful, shiny chrome, it’s like having your own Talus Dome at home!
4. Food and drink – because you deserve a treat!
A global pandemic can’t keep a good thing down, especially not Edmonton’s food and drink culture. Restrictions over the past year inadvertently opened a niche market in outdoor catered picnics. Take a break from home ownership and let Rümi help install your EV charger, while you enjoy a luxury picnic experience provided by boutique companies like True North, complete with food and drink from local producers.
Hansen Distillery’s Edmonton-made Northern Eyes whiskey is a must-try for any whiskey lover, and you’ll find smooth vodkas from MD Distillery in St. Albert. Make it easy by selecting pre-made cocktail kits from local favourites Pip, Woodwork or El Beso and head to one of seven city parks with specially designated spots for you to enjoy a beverage under the trees. Your electric vehicle will be charged before you know it.
