There is a certain nostalgic elegance that comes with the chill in the air that signifies autumn. Other seasons have their unique charms, but nothing is quite as exciting to fashion lovers as building a new fall wardrobe. As the days shorten and the thermometer takes its unavoidable plunge, it is hard to quell the desire to rush off and stock up on cozy sweaters and luxurious outerwear.
Designers are on an unending quest to find the newest thing in fashion each fall. While change is inevitable, the trend making the biggest impact this season is the return to the classic tailoring, warm colours and rich fabrications of colder days gone by. Tweed trousers, Melton wool overcoats, plaid jackets and cable-knit sweaters in shades of plum, gold and deep red blend beautifully into the transforming landscape that captivates us each fall. Reinvention is what the changing of seasons is all about, but there is a comfort in knowing that the things that we love about fall – its layered warmth and traditions – won’t be going out of style anytime soon.
