Hansen Distillery has a diverse range of offerings, from rye to gin to vodka, but after quite a few people came into the distillery asking for a Bailey’s-type spirit with which to spike their coffees, co-owner Shayna Hansen realised a need to craft a product to fill that niche. “We thought, it sounds like it would be a pretty popular item, let’s look into creating one of our own,” says Hansen. “We started playing around with flavour profiles and came up with Morning Glory.”
The response was more than Hansen could have ever hoped for, and it remains one of the distillery’s best-selling products. The chocolate hazelnut cream liqueur is a diverse spirit that can be used in a variety of ways. In addition to adding a shot to a steaming cup of coffee, you can mix it with vodka for a flavoured “Martini,” shake it with chocolate milk for a spiked nostalgic treat, or even use it in desserts like cheesecake. “When it starts getting cold outside and you’re looking for something that reminds you of winter and those holiday memories, I find that it’s one of those drinks that brings me back to the family, the Christmas season,” says Hansen.
