Many great restaurants fly under the radar, only discovered by happy accident — which is how I happened across my new favourite lunch spot. After a wrong turn while running errands, I pulled into a parking lot to yell at my GPS. Thankfully, that wrong turn led me right to Korean Fusion Deli, so I decided to skip my planned fast food lunch and treat myself to something new.
Stepping inside, I immediately fell in love with the warm, laidback atmosphere and friendly staff. In the middle of a hectic day, it offers a lovely lunch break reprieve.
I ordered fries and a beef bulgogi sub — marinated beef topped with lettuce, onions and carrots, and finished with barbecue mayo and a mild spicy sauce on a soft, lightly toasted bun. The crunch of the veggies contrasted well with the tender meat, making each bite so satisfying.
Korean Fusion Deli delivers on the name with its blend of Korean flavours and Western comfort foods. You’ll find deli classics like chicken salad and roast beef sandwiches and poutine, alongside ramen and rice bowls. Canadian fare like poutine gets a Korean twist with bulgogi and kimchi fries. Every dish reminded me of home cooking, assembled with care and attention to each ingredient.
The portions were generous — so generous, I couldn’t even finish my whole sub. Thankfully, it was perfect for splitting with my boyfriend.
Korean Fusion Deli has quickly joined my regular rotation of local restaurants that I return to again and again — nothing can keep me away from its ramen and Korean doughnuts.
