When Hunter Cardinal goes out for a treat, it’s serious business. To him, the eatery experience is not solely about the dish, but the atmosphere of a place and memories made throughout the journey. Not all restaurants resonate with his vibe, but the Colombian Coffee Bar and Roastery sure is one.
“I feel like living in Bonnie Doon is one of the best decisions I’ve made. And it’s mostly due to how close I am to this incredible coffee shop. For as far as I can remember, I’m always on a hunt for great coffee, but the places I used to live were all so far away from my favourite coffee places.”
Now it only takes Cardinal 10 minutes to walk to the Colombian Coffee, which he believes is an “absolute privilege.”
“The doughnuts there, regardless of flavours, are like little gifts,” says Cardinal. “Doughnuts by themselves are just great, but you can taste the care that’s been put into making it at the Colombian. Not only do they taste good, but the presentation is a work of art.”
As Cardinal describes, there is no need to add milk or sugar to taste the flavours in the Colombian’s coffee. The beans are roasted in a way that they bring out the beautiful floral citrus taste of cocoa.
Whether it’s a special afternoon of alone time, or a meeting with clients, Cardinal always goes for the classic Americano and doughnut combo. It’s his way of meditation when facing the unknown of the future.
“Whenever I get my treats from there, I always feel very special.”
