Ken Christensen always craves a nice vegan dinner. When not sketching new ideas for themed hotel rooms at his kitchen table, Christensen absorbs inspiration from people around him, popular culture, and a warm plate of Singapore Noodles from Padmanadi.
It’s been ten years since Christensen first visited Padmanadi’s small location with his vegan friends. He remembers them heading to the Sunday night buffet, and having good chats with Padmanadi’s owner, Kasim Kasim.
“I’ve tried almost every dish on the menu now. When my wife and I go to Padmanadi, we tend to go for several favourites, then swirl in a new thing we want to try for the day,” says Christensen. “We were actually just there last night and had some crispy vegan chicken, as well as the Singapore Noodles.”
The Singapore Noodles are for those who thrive on heat. It’s a plate full of stir-fried vermicelli, wok tossed with spicy curry, vegetables and soy shrimps. And the best part is, “it goes with almost every dish.”
“What else is amazing about Padmanadi is that they have vegan desserts for reasonable prices, like cheesecake and coconut rice pudding,” recommends Christensen. “You’ve really got to try it.”
