When Sophie Gray thinks of Fifendekel, she thinks of memories with her family.
“My mom loves to shop and she used to take us shopping all the time as kids,” says Gray, CEO and founder of mental health app DiveThru. “My sisters loved it and I hated it, and I would only go if she told me what food we were getting. And, when we’d go to West Edmonton Mall, we’d go to Fifendekel.”
When ordering, Gray keeps it simple. Her go-to is a traditional turkey sandwich, but what makes it stand out is the cranberry sauce and fresh baked bread. Fifendekel, which has four locations in Edmonton, is also known for its selection of homemade pies, and the strawberry rhubarb is one of Gray’s favourites.
“I rediscovered Fifendekel as an adult, and I had my mom over yesterday and I went and picked up Fifendekel and that’s just a family tradition that we have now.”
