Having worked in the hospitality industry now for a number of years, the Diageo World Class Bartender of the Year has sampled food and drinks from all over the city, the country and the globe. However, his favourite thing to eat here in Edmonton was discovered before he even began his bartending career.
“Nhan Hoa is a great little Vietnamese sub shop with a couple locations around Edmonton. When I was working downtown years ago … they had a food truck and I would go there most days for lunch. And then I just started to come across the same business but in different locations around the city. So, it’s always been relatively close to where I’m working, and it’s my number one stop.”
Grant raves about the “perfect, spicy, rich, salty, fresh sandwich that delivers this incredibly full flavour profile” while catering to a vegetarian diet, and adds that many chefs and bartenders he’s worked with in the city know of the sandwich, and Nhon Hoa as a whole, as a sort of industry secret.
“It’s not something that I think a lot of people know about, but it should be because it’s an incredible business.”
