It felt like a sign. A cafe with a name so close to mine surely means good things ahead. Cafe Aria, Areeha, Aria … close enough to feel like fate, right?
To my surprise, Cafe Aria — run by the owners of Cafe Versailles — isn’t just a spot for usual cafe fare like pastries, cakes and coffee. The completely halal menu was also packed with full, sit-down meals that you wouldn’t naturally expect from a casual cafe.
The Supreme Chicken caught my eye — chicken paired with mashed potatoes, mushroom sauce and fresh vegetables. As someone who’s a sucker for indulgent comfort meals (basically anything with mashed potatoes), I was sold. The beautifully plated Supreme Chicken was everything it promised — juicy, hearty and comforting. A hug in food form.
And I’ll be the first to admit, I don’t have a very refined palate when it comes to food. But one thing I really know, being Pakistani, is chai. So when I saw a Chai Latte on the menu, I couldn’t resist. I was curious. Could this cafe’s take on my beloved chai measure up? To my pleasant surprise, it did — well spiced, with the nostalgic feeling of home.
Just like that, I’m hooked. Cafe Aria, you lured me in with your name, but the food will keep me coming back.
