Blessed be the person at the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, N.Y. who gave the world the chicken wing. It truly is one of the great foodstuffs known to humankind.
But, what if we could do better? What if we could amp up the fowl? The Underground Tap & Grill has taken on this challenge. Sure, you can order chicken wings, but you can also pair that beer or cider with an order of Adobo Duck Wings.
These are significant. These are almost drumstick size, and come piled like wood that’s set up for a campfire. Now, you know, when you grill chicken or duck, how, when the sauce is kissed by the flame, you get those wonderful charred bits? That’s what these duck wings are all about, and there are smears of adobo sauce on the plate for your dipping pleasure. The sauce is smoky, with just enough spice to keep your palate warm.
It’s a short walk from the Underground Tap & Grill to Rogers Place, so these are recommended as a pre-game or post-game snack. Or meal. Heck, they’re big enough to be called a meal, right.
Sure, the chicken wing is still great, but duck wings? Yes, please.
