After a couple of hiccups due to mechanical issues, OEB Breakfast’s second Edmonton location has opened its doors. Located in the old North 53 space on 124th Street, the space offers a great view of the High Street area as you sip coffee and nosh on the breakfast poutines, eggs or, heck, pancakes loaded with toppings.
But, as chicken and waffles has gone mainstream, we’re seeing more and more spots embrace the next thing: Smoked salmon and waffles. The salmon is smoked in New Brunswick, and it comes on a nearly built house made of waffles. I mean, look at the architecture that went into this thing. The kitchen staff should be spending their spare time building Lego cities or designing office towers considering the attention to detail.
The capers come fried to add crunch. Under the waffles is a small pool of tzatziki, which brightens up the whole dish. The waffles are buttery and fluffy. It’s a fantastic way to start your day, even if you feel like the Big Bad Wolf when you’re knocking this “house” down.
