Lots of people have rules, don’t they? Some have a thing about what side of the bed they sleep on, others have a thing about how they put on socks (left before right).
I have a rule about chocolate. If someone doesn’t like chocolate, then there’s probably something dodgy about them. Because who doesn’t love chocolate! The best kind of chocolate is the type that melts into a velvety richness, and you close your eyes and sigh, because it is just that damn good. And chocolate makes you happy. To quote Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, “Happy people just don’t shoot their husbands; they just don’t.” And if you don’t trust her, just watch any Harry Potter movie. The third one is basically only about chocolate.
Anyway, Edmonton’s chocolate scene is top-notch. Have you tried it? You really should; it’ll make you happy.
Jācek Chocolate Couture
The Sherwood Park chocolatier is always worth the trip (but offers delivery, too!). The intricate chocolate designs are sure to bring a smile to your face. They have the normal bean-to-bar chocolate, and a chocolate tasting kit. They also have the most decadent looking chocolates ever.
Chocolaterie Bernard Callebaut
These are award-winning chocolates. No joke. They’re located in Pleasantview which we think is very fitting. The handmade chocolates are mouth-wateringly delicious. And they look even better inside a chocolate heart. Chocolate inside more chocolate is genius.
Sweet Lollapalooza
Ahh, Lollapalooza. Think dark and rich, right there on Jasper Ave. These chocolates have no added sugar or preservatives, which means you should eat them fast, with some sweetened coffee. The flavours will burst on your tongue, which is to be expected from one of the Top 10 Chocolatiers in North America.
Carol’s Quality Sweets
Old Glenora is better because of this particular shop. A real city staple for the past 30 years, Carol’s Quality Sweets redefine Belgium chocolate. By that we mean, real liquor and real cream. If you’re also in the mood for some old-fashioned lemon candy drops, or English chocolates, head over here.
