Jack’s Burger Shack, located among Mission’s shops district off Sturgeon Road and St. Albert Trail, is a burger joint that delivers. It’s open Monday to Saturday for lunch, 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and again for dinner from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. — “or when we’re sold out, whatever comes first.”
In classic burger shack style, Jack’s sells standard and unique burgers — with all the meat grounded and delivered daily by D’arcy’s Meats — a few sides and shakes. The Inferno burger is well known, and the Hangover will soak up any lingering spirits and suds (it’s served between two “grill’d cheese”), but this afternoon I went with the BBQ Crunch. The perfectly-charred patty came with bacon, cheese, and yes, those are potato chips sticking out under the bun. My favourite part was the balance — just the right amount of condiments and orange soda BBQ sauce provided perfect flavour in each bite, and ensured the Sobeys-provided bun (baked daily) isn’t soggy by the end. A filling bowl of fries with mayo was almost too much to eat. Almost.
