Tucked away south of the Anthony Henday is Flame & Barrel, a new restaurant and bar boasting a menu of global cuisine.
What’s great about the menu is the amount of options including comfort food like burgers, pasta and pizza to hearty meals like steak, chicken and seafood. It’s going to take you a long time to peruse the menu if you’re indecisive.
After taking a few minutes to absorb all the options, we went with the bruschetta appetizer to start. The portion is perfect for two and the baguettes were piled high with fresh tomato, onion, basil, olive oil, grana padano, garlic and balsamic reduction.
For the main course, we went with the Penne Pesto and Fire Roasted Tomato Meatballs. The Penne Pesto was creamy, while the Fire Roasted Tomato Meatballs were saucy with a touch of spice. The servings are large enough to take home half for tomorrow’s dinner (or a midnight snack). Both dishes were served with garlic toast which was a delightful addition.
Also worth mentioning is the presentation and plating of each dish. You’ll definitely want to have your cameras out when the food is served.
