Moe Kaddoura, owner of Super Smash Burger, was introduced to the meat industry by his father. He studied engineering at university, but before long realized that it wasn’t for him. He joined his father’s business, Save On Meat, and spent eight years learning the business of butchery. Then in August 2025, Kaddoura struck out on his own, opening Super Smash Burger, a casual burger joint tucked away in a Dickinsfield strip mall.
When I visited back in October, the restaurant was clean and simple, with diner-inspired touches like booths and red accent walls. I ordered Kaddoura’s pride and joy: the mushroom smash burger. The first bite melted in my mouth. I was already savouring the Swiss cheese on top of the two juicy patties when I tasted the seasoned mushrooms and caramelized onions, both bringing a touch of sweetness to the burger. And let’s not forget about the sauce.
Kaddoura’s signature smash sauce — his secret handmade sauce — added a tanginess that brought all the flavours together. (I asked him for the secret but he gave me nothing.)
In addition to beef burgers, Super Smash has a drool-worthy menu of chicken burgers, donairs, onion rings, fries and poutine. Oh, and of course there are milkshakes, in classic and contemporary flavours (think mango or Coffee Crisp).
Everything in the menu is made from halal meat — something Kaddoura was determined to do — and he provides healthier alternatives for those not interested in his deep-fried options. He’s even considering bottling his secret sauce for sale, thanks to customer requests.
But for now, Kaddoura is focused on making sure every part of his business is perfect. He’s involved in the entire process of preparing his food — from working with farmers to getting behind the grill — and he doesn’t hesitate to correct the slightest flaw that will affect the finished product.
It’s a standard that will definitely bring me back, I’ve got my eye on the donair poutine and their super smash specialty burger — American and Swiss cheese melted on a triple ribeye patty, complemented with classic lettuce, tomato, pickles and the added crunch of onion rings. I can just about taste it now.
