The Sweet Treats and Latte Festival is back in Old Strathcona for a second year. Enjoy feature treats and lattes at 17 cafes in the Whyte Avenue area including PACT Coffee, Hexagon Cafe and Woodrack Cafe.
“The festival was created last year in the height of the pandemic in terms of restrictions, and it was our way of creating a coffee, hot drinks and dessert festival, really to draw people out in the winter,” says Cherie Klassen, executive director of the Old Strathcona Business Association. “And also we really just want to showcase what we believe our district is really becoming, which is a place where we have this incredible growing number of bakeries, cafes and ice cream shops.”
Nine new businesses are joining in on the fun this year and seven of them are new to the Old Strathcona area as of last year. Each participating business has a feature treat and drink that will come with a limited-edition illustrated coffee sleeve or sticker designed by Curio Studio.
Vote for the best sweet treat and latte online until the end of the festival for the chance to win a gift card from a participating business. The second way to win is by posting photos of your sweet treats on Instagram. Make sure to stop by the brand new doughnut installation in front of Sid’s Selfie World, located at 10336 82 Ave. NW. It’s the perfect background for photos.
Stop by Old Strathcona for the Sweet Treats and Latte Festival until February 27.
