At first glance, you might be tempted to think that there’s no way something as large as a scone and as dense as a fudge bar could be considered a cookie, and in fact, you would be right — it’s clearly a kookie.
Specializing in larger-than-life gourmet stuffed cookies, local bake shop Krammed Kookies puts the fun back in dessert. Boasting 45 different flavours with names like Funky Funfetti, Mini Egg Supreme and No Regrets, the cookies are made here in Edmonton by a baker who, quite surprisingly, also works as a full-time dental hygienist.
The cookies themselves look like ultra-decadent bath bombs cooked up in a Willy Wonka fever dream, but judging from Krammed’s regularly sold-out inventory, they’ve also become a favourite of the city’s staunchest sugarnauts.
When it comes to actually eating a Krammed Kookie, try to use it as an opportunity to practice patience and generosity. Although the candy-coated exteriors and cream-filled centres might suggest otherwise, Krammed Kookies definitely aren’t designed to be scarfed down in a single sitting. Let yourself be led by your sweet tooth and you might find yourself with a few less teeth than you started with. Instead, share it with friends. Or better yet, pick your favourite flavour (I would personally go for the Coconut Mojito), pour a glass of milk, put away your calorie counter and opt for some prolonged indulgence. A single bite should be more than enough to satisfy just about any sized sugar craving, but then again, I can’t promise that you will be able to stop at just one.
