Picture this. A romantic date night for Valentine’s Day where you don’t have to cook or attend a crowded restaurant where reservations must be made a month in advance. Yes, it’s possible. And the best part? You get to eat a gourmet meal at home. Whether you want to dress up for the occasion or stay in your pajamas, that’s up to you.
Here are five places offering Valentine’s Day take-out.
Biera and Blind Enthusiasm
One of the best parts about going for dinner is the appetizers, which is why Biera and Blind Enthusiasm collaborated on a Valentine’s Fondue Kit. The $65 kit comes with Le Bois Blond cheese, locally grown baby potatoes and oyster mushrooms, house-made sourdough focaccia, Meuwly’s ham, fresh grapes and BC fruit and house-made rosehip sambal.
Add-ons like flowers, wine, beer and chocolates are available. A limited number of kits are available for pick-up between February 11 and 14, so don’t wait to place your order.
Chartier
Want to spend a romantic evening with your partner but also have kids to feed? Chartier is cooking up a meal for the whole family. The Three-Course Takeout Game Dinner has a selection of courses for you to choose from like Four Whistle Farm Duck Leg or Effing Seafoods Niçoise Tartare. Chartier knows those dishes probably don’t sound appetizing to your kids, which is why the restaurant created a kid’s menu with food like waffles, bowtie pasta and chicken tenders.
Pre-order dinner for February 11 and 12. The Three-Course Takeout Game Dinner for two is $175 and the kids take-out meals start at $6.
May Restaurant
The recently opened restaurant in the Art Gallery of Alberta is serving up Valentine’s fine dining at home for $145. The meal for two comes with ricotta and crostini, beef wellington and veggies, and flourless chocolate cake and haskap. A bottle of Romeo & Juliet accompanies the meal. All you have to do is heat the meal and serve. Order now and pick up on February 12.
Brew + Bloom
Split a treat box from Brew + Bloom with your sweetheart this Valentine’s Day. The $60 box comes with hand-decorated hot chocolate bombs, hand-decorated sugar Valentine’s Day-themed cookies, chocolate chip cookies, butter cookies, double fudge brownies and fresh flowers. The box comes with two of everything, but we don’t blame you if you order one of these to keep all to yourself. Boxes are available for next-day pick up or delivery until February 14.
Art of Cake
Celebrate Valentine’s Day with an activity the whole family will enjoy. Art of Cake is taking pre-orders for Valentine’s Day cookie decorating kits. Each do-it-yourself kit comes with a combination of big and small heart cookies, dry Ingredients for royal icing, a piping bag and candies for decorating. The kits are $26 and are available for pick up between February 4-6 and February 8-13. Forty eight hours notice is required.
