There is an important question you need to answer when you order a hot chocolate at Chocolaterie Bernard Callebaut. Is it best to put the oversized cup right to your lips, or do you use the provided spoon to scoop up the chocolate shavings and whipped cream like a dessert?
I went with the creamy African milk chocolate variety, though there are darker South American and Caribbean varieties on the menu. The hot chocolate itself is thick and rich — and the velvety flavour tones are pronounced, and aren’t disguised by any sort of spices or add-ons. This is a rich, filling experience, and it pairs well with the sweet crepes on order. I went with the salted caramel, which offers a nice counterpoint and tang to the richness of the drink.
