When summer comes around, making meals can feel easy. You can barbecue, have potlucks with friends and even hit up one of the many patios in the city (okay, that’s not cooking but still). Yet, as the back-to-school rush and cold weather creep up on us, meal-planning might be too much to think about on top of everything else.
To help ease some stress, here’s a list of five spots in the city where you can find prepared frozen foods, meal services and even a do-it-yourself ramen kit.
Simply Supper
Located in Riverbend and Albany Market Square, Simply Supper prepares ready-to-cook frozen meals. You can pre-order on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis from a rotating monthly menu, or drop by the store and pick up what you like. Some of the August meals include beer-and-lime pork kebabs, miso salmon and chicken pesto penne. They also have a dessert menu!

Good Stock Foods
What started off as a vegan restaurant has now transitioned into an entirely plant-based, ready-made food market and family-run business led by NAIT trained Red Seal chef Michelle Byrt. Good Stock Foods provides fresh and frozen meals in both single-serve and family-sized portions and has everything from curries and stews to pizzas and burgers. They also have their own line of cashew cheese that comes in a variety of flavours — herb and garlic, white truffle, dill and onion, and spicy garlic chili. Plus, if you buy three items you can get a discount.
