Craig Heinke
Craig Heinke was part of the Top 40 Under 40 class of 2012. He is an associate professor of physics at the University of Alberta. He is an astronomer who looks to the heavens for white dwarfs, neutron stars and black holes. NASA and the Canadian Space Agency have cited his research.
Anne McLellan
The Honourable Anne Mclellan served four terms as the MP for Edmonton Centre from 1993 to 2006. She served as Canada’s deputy prime minister, minister of health, minister of justice and minister of natural resources. She now practices law out of Bennett Jone’s Edmonton office.
Heather Klimchuk
Heather Klimchuk is the MLA for Edmonton-Glenora and is Alberta’s Minister of Culture and Community Spirit. Before being elected to office, she worked as a writer for premiers Peter Lougheed and Don Getty.
Beryl Bacchus
Beryl Bacchus was named to Avenue’s Top 40 Under 40 in 2012. She was the executive director of the Global Visions Film Festival. She is also co-chair of the Festival of Trees’ gala and sits as a member of the Alberta Media Arts Alliance Society.
Dr. Hakique Virani
Dr. Hakique Virani founded the Metro City Clinic, which treats drug addicts in the inner city. He writes about health for the Huffington Post, and worked with Alberta Health Services to ensure First Nations residents across the province has access to vaccines, He’s a member of 2012’s Top 40 Under 40.
Trudy Callaghan
Trudy Callaghan is a founding partner of Odvod Publishing and Odvod Media. She’s the associate publisher of Avenue Edmonton and has been a Top 40 judge since its inception in 2009. She’s a strong supporter of the arts, acting on the Cake Walk committee for the Nina Haggerty Centre for the Arts and as a chair of the board of directors for Citie Ballet.
