When Lindsay Todiassen received the family recipe for buttercream sugar cookies, she was ready to add a floral twist. The Instagram-ready handmade floral buttercreams are made in small batches, every flower carefully designed, great for baby showers and weddings.
“People tend to be surprised by how soft sugar cookies are,” says Todiassen. “With the buttercream flowers taking so much space, it’s easy to imagine the cookies being thick. But they taste light and tender.”
While the pastel coloured buttercream doesn’t taste like flowers, some of the products, including the sugar cookie truffles and chocolate dipped, are decorated with edible petals. If you’re looking for something bite-sized, the mini buttercream heart sugar cookies are as divine, and so easy to nibble on.
“Seeing customers in real life is so different from selling cookies online,” reflects Todiassen from her previous pop-up experience at local markets. “You can see how people’s eyes sparkle when they’re drawn into one particular kind of cookie. It’s so fun to interact with the customers, learning which design they want more.”
Todiassen is also looking forward to modifying the signature floral buttercream, using less space for each flower.
“After all, there are so many possibilities for my sugar cookies, and I’m excited to try them all.”
