The thing about sports is that, most of the time, it ends in heartbreak. Think about it. There are 32 teams in the NHL, and only one team will end the season by taking laps around the rink with the Stanley Cup. To put that into perspective, you can really only say your team is in a “championship drought” if it has gone 33 years or more without a championship.
We could use examples from other leagues, too… but the odds are, sports will break your heart a lot more than they will make you feel like you’re on top of the world.
So, why not embrace those sour feelings with The Game Day Sour, created by Instagram-famous Canadian mixologist Brenton Mowforth?
Here’s how to make it:
Game Day Sour Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 oz Ezra Brooks Bourbon
- 0.75 oz Lager Syrup
- 0.75 oz Lemon Juice
- Top with red wine (preference is a Malbec)
Instructions
- Shake all ingredients except the wine with ice and strain into a rocks glass with fresh ice.
- Layer on the red wine until you have a float that covers the drink.
(For lager syrup, use the same method as you would to make simple syrup: One part liquid to one part sugar. But, instead of using water, use beer. Dissolve the sugar into the lager over low heat.)
