Dr. Eric Wong says his staff call him a foodie, and for good reason. He has a list of favourite local eats, from the well-known to the hidden gems, but he settled on his go-to, most well-rounded lunch pick: the vermicelli special bowl at An Chay downtown.
“I’m not typically a vegetarian by nature, by any means, but I really enjoy a lot of their food. For me, I’m always looking for alternatives, and I’m trying to be healthy in general, especially with a busy lifestyle, I’m always on the go.
“So, I’m looking for healthy meals, really satisfying meals, but also really quick meals, and this really satisfies every aspect that I’m looking for.”
Don’t let the term “meat substitute” on the menu deter you. Wong promises that, although it’s deceiving at first, the vermicelli bowl always hits the spot.
