At Bündok, tucked in the base of the Fox Tower, chef and owner Ryan Hotchkiss has crafted a menu full of dishes that are comforting, yet surprising. The wine list contains only French and Canadian offerings, and the overall menu is French inspired, filled with tartines, tartares and more.
A standout dish is the parmigiano soup. A crisp white bowl is filled with perfectly toasted breadcrumbs, peas and bacon, and a pitcher of the soup is poured atop the mixture. The unique tableside preparation ensures all the elements within remain crisp, a lovely contrast to the rich, velvety smooth parmigiano cream. The roasted cauliflower contains a whole cauliflower blanketed with creme fraiche, topped with breadcrumbs, and sprinkled with capers that add a briny burst of freshness to the dish.
The open kitchen means you’ll see each dish being plated, which presents one issue – as the plates sail past your table, you just may be tempted to add one (or two, or three) more to your order.
